About

My pocket beagle, Toby, was the inspiration for my first pet portrait.

I’ve been creating art my entire life, and while I’ve drawn and painted in all the standard mediums, soft core colored pencils are by far my favorite. So much so, that I decided to devote myself to becoming an expert in them. I work out of my home studio in Wilton, Connecticut primarily drawing commissioned portraits of pets and humans. My other work, which I occasionally exhibit at local art shows, usually focuses on wildlife and nature.

Colored pencil painting is a slow, meditative process. For me, so much of the joy is in the process itself–not just the finished product. On the other hand, art is a solitary endeavor, and sometimes I’d love nothing more than to share it or collaborate with others in some way. A few years ago, I began teaching adult students, and now I’m fortunate to do just that. My hope is to build a community of artists who thrive on this amazing medium.
